The Yacht Club, the Boat Show and the Port of Acapulco
Undoubtedly, the Acapulco Yacht Club is the best ans most exclusive Yacht Club in Mexico, recognized by many other clubs around the world.
It was initiated in the 40’s by a group of enthusiastic Acapulqueños, sea-lovers and fond of water sports; in 1955, an icon of the world cinema, the Mexican actress Dolores del Río laid the foundation stone of the Club-house at its current location, the protected bay of Santa Lucía. From then on, the institution has followed a path of progress that has taken it to the place it occupies now.
In the Olympic Games México 68, the Club was host for the sea sports. Now, in its piers, jetties and dry marina you can see more than 400 boats of all types, owned by our 360 members – owners, for sailing, fishing, and enjoying a way of life of a select but growing sector of our population.
This group wanted displays at home similar to exhibitions held abroad; since 1997, some were carried out in Puerto Vallarta, or in Mexico City, and, since the beginning of this millennium, the Boat Show has been three times in Acapulco, the beautiful setting of our BOAT SHOW ACAPULCO 2009. This time, it will show the latest in marine technology and equipment, yachts, boats, cars and luxury homes, executive aircraft, and everything that revolves around the wonderful marine world.
Pleasant climate, warm waters and blue skies await the visitor in the place that has been called “Paradise of the Mexican Pacific”.
